Job Overview The Director, Communications & Audience Strategy advances enterprise media effectiveness by developing customer‑driven audience strategies, strengthening cross‑functional integration, and translating business goals into measurable media outcomes. The role guides the use of data, insights, and marketing technology to enhance targeting, improve customer quality, and optimize investment across the media funnel. Through strategic leadership and innovation, this position influences campaign performance, audience growth, and long‑term media productivity.

What You Will Do

Design a cohesive customer-based audience strategy across upper, mid, and lower funnel channels with emphasis on addressable media.

Lead audience creation, activation processes, and application of marketing technology platforms.

Partner with Customer Driven Insights & Activation to translate customer strategies into actionable paid media tactics.

Collaborate with customer strategy, measurement, and analytics teams to uncover insights and inform performance enhancements.

Identify and implement innovative processes and programs aligned with brand and retail growth priorities.

Partner with agencies and analytics partners to evaluate customer quality, acquisition, and retention across attributed media.

Guide teams on applying data and technology to support insight development, targeting, and campaign design.

Assess first‑party data to provide strategic audience recommendations and build addressable audiences.

Map existing and develop new communication strategies based on insights and technology capabilities.

Translate business strategy into communications strategy and media investment recommendations.

Consult on attribution and marketing mix modeling to optimize spend, channel mix, and ROAS.

Develop testing agendas with analytics partners to measure effectiveness, discover opportunities, and reduce overlap.

Lead innovation initiatives with Brand, Merchant, and Corporate Strategy teams to identify new ways of working.

Create strategic roadmaps for innovation and advise on opportunities related to emerging platforms including Metaverse and Web3.

Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need Audience Strategy Leadership:

Designs and directs customer‑based audience frameworks that integrate insights, media channels, and activation processes for measurable performance.

Data & Technology Application:

Applies first‑party data, marketing technology, and people‑based platforms to build addressable audiences and enhance targeting precision.

Media Strategy & Investment Planning:

Connects business strategy to media recommendations, optimizing channel allocation and return on ad spend.

Attribution & Measurement:

Partners with analytics to interpret modeling outputs, guide test design, and improve media productivity and customer quality.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration:

Builds strong relationships with strategy, analytics, brand, merchant, tech, and agency partners to align initiatives across the enterprise.

Innovation Development:

Identifies and activates new programs, technologies, and frameworks that advance retail innovation and support future‑focused marketing.

Strategic Storytelling:

Synthesizes complex data and processes into clear, actionable narratives that influence decision‑making at senior levels.

Operational Process Excellence:

Maps, structures, and refines workflows to drive clarity, scalability, and organizational alignment.

Who You Are

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.

Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.

Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
