Position Summary The Corporate Director of Design and Construction is responsible for the strategic oversight, planning, and execution of capital projects, renovations, property improvements, and facility management across the company’s portfolio of hotels. This role ensures all properties maintain brand standards, operational efficiency, safety compliance, and long‑term asset value. The Corporate Director of Design and Construction will collaborate closely with Operations, Development, Finance, and Ownership groups to prioritize capital investments, manage project timelines, and maintain facilities that support exceptional guest experiences and strong financial performance.
Key Responsibilities Capital Projects & Renovations
Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of property improvement plans (PIPs), renovations, conversions, and new development support projects.
Oversee project timelines, budgets, and vendor performance to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within financial targets.
Coordinate with brand representatives to ensure compliance with brand standards and design requirements.
Evaluate capital expenditures and recommend strategic investments to improve asset value and operational efficiency.
Facilities Management
Provide leadership and oversight of facility maintenance standards across all hotels in the portfolio.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend asset life and reduce operational disruptions.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
Monitor property condition assessments and establish long‑term maintenance strategies.
Vendor & Contractor Management
Establish and manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and service providers.
Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor performance to ensure quality and cost control.
Implement company‑wide standards for procurement, maintenance services, and project execution.
Financial Oversight
Develop and manage capital expenditure budgets and multi‑year capital planning strategies.
Partner with Finance and Operations leaders to evaluate ROI on projects and facility improvements.
Track project costs, approvals, and reporting to executive leadership and ownership groups.
Operational Collaboration
Partner with Regional Directors of Operations, General Managers, and Engineering teams to assess facility needs.
Provide guidance on facility standards, maintenance best practices, and energy management initiatives.
Support hotel teams during renovations to minimize operational disruptions and protect the guest experience.
Leadership & Strategy
Build and lead a high‑performing facilities and project management team.
Establish standardized processes and reporting for capital projects and maintenance initiatives.
Contribute to company growth strategies, including acquisitions, property transitions, and portfolio expansion.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
10+ years of experience in hospitality facilities management, construction, or capital project management.
Multi‑property hotel experience required; experience with major hotel brands strongly preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale renovations, PIPs, and capital improvement programs.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing capital budgets and forecasting.
Ability to travel to properties as needed (approximately 30–50%).
