School Business Consultant, Central Administrative Office Position: The School Business Consultant will be employed on a part-time basis in support of the Superintendent of Schools and the District Business Office.
Qualifications
Possession of a Massachusetts School Business Administrator License
Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a School Business Administrator
A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Business Science preferred
Knowledge of and experience in M.G.L. 30b Procurement procedures; Certification as a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO) is highly desirable
Strong aptitude for figures and basic accounting practices
Proficiency with computers, office software and office machines
Strong communication and organization skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
Work Year: TBD, based on the needs of the district, but at least one (1) eight (8) hour day a week in Norfolk.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is Budget and Finance.
Oversee Accounts Payable and Payroll.
Provide general guidance to Food Service and Facilities.
Specific Duties
Oversee the daily operation of the business office.
Plan, coordinate and direct the District’s budget development activities and budget administration process.
Prepare quarterly budget updates for the Superintendent and the school Committee.
Monitor operating, grant and revolving accounts and make general ledger journal entries as required.
Prepare and submit the end of year report (EOYR) to the DESE.
Ensure the purchasing process operates in an economical manner and in accordance with budget limitations, School Committee policy, and state law.
Oversee transportation contracts and engage in procurement periodically.
Provide financial projections during contract negotiations.
Act as advisor to the Superintendent concerning financial affairs and matters of general importance to the educational program.
Conduct other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools.
Attend monthly School Committee Meetings, Annual and Special Town Meetings as needed.
Salary Range: $35,000 – $45,000
