Reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Controller, this role provides comprehensive service in financial award management, compliance for the academic sponsored research portfolio of approximately $15 million. Key duties include creating, implementing and enforcing policies and practices that ensure sponsored activity is accurately recorded and reconciled, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) requirements are met, and financial reporting and analysis is complete, timely, and audit-ready. This position is the administrative liaison between the administrative core, the Office of Academic Research, and principal investigators (PIs). The incumbent has a broad scope and knowledge of research administration and financial matters.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, to include at least two (2) years of experience in research administration or accounting

Expertise in GAAP; nonprofit fund accounting; Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200); and sponsored research compliance

Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) to elicit and disperse information; to present information (including data) and communications in a clear and concise manner

Strong organizational, administrative, time management and critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently

Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a multi-tasking environment while maintaining careful attention to detail

Advanced Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

CPA, an advanced degree in business or a related field, and / or another relevant licensure or certification

Four or more years of experience in research administration or accounting

Previous experience with research administration or accounting in higher education or complex nonprofit environments

Experience with Banner finance and grant module and Cayuse

Experience supporting single audits

Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace
