Reporting to ReArch’s Chief Estimator, the Senior Estimator plays a lead role in the preconstruction process and is responsible for preparing and overseeing project budgets, pre-bid packages, and full-scope estimates based on Design-Build and/or Construction Manager construction documents.
Senior Estimators lead the development of schematic and construction document estimates, coordinate with project management teams and trade partners, and manage the solicitation and evaluation of subcontractor bids and scopes of work. This role is responsible for developing comprehensive cost models, identifying project risks and opportunities, and ensuring estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project goals. Senior Estimators also mentor and support junior estimators, helping to develop estimating standards, improve processes, and strengthen the overall preconstruction team.
Regular travel throughout Vermont and New Hampshire is required in order to attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews. This is an in‑person role that may be based at our South Burlington, VT; Lebanon, NH; or Portsmouth, NH office location. The starting pay for this position is $115,000–$140,000/year, depending on experience.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in preconstruction/estimating on commercial construction projects, including experience leading estimates for projects valued between $20M and $50M. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and work experience in construction estimating will be considered.
Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, estimating, budgeting, negotiating, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to guide estimating strategy and mentor junior staff. Knowledge and experience with civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, casework, doors, specialties, interior finishes, exterior building wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and sustainable or green building practices is preferred.
