Summary The Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) at Skyworks is responsible for the development of all core technologies, operations, and quality while driving strategic enhancements in the way that Skyworks leverages vertical integration capabilities and manufacturing investments. TMG encompasses research and development, central engineering, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain with the mission of building manufacturability into new technologies from inception. The organization is spearheading leading-edge industrial automation, best practices and analytics into all aspects of the operation and addresses the crucial demand for timely and flawless introduction of new technologies.
Overall Objectives The Senior Director, External Sourcing provides leadership to our Foundry Sourcing and is responsible for developing and executing the global foundry sourcing strategy to support current and future business growth. This role owns supplier strategy, commercial negotiations, capacity reservation, risk management and executive level supplier relations across specialty RF and mature nodes. The position partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance and Executive Leadership to ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and long term technology alignment.
Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
Define and execute global foundry sourcing strategy aligned with company growth, technology roadmap and margin objectives
Lead strategic relations with foundry partners serving as the executive point of contact
Drive long term agreements, capacity reservations and technology access negotiations.
Owner of the Sourcing Grid (Establish clear sourcing segmentation , primary/secondary, node strategy, geographic diversification etc)
Commercial & Contract Leadership
Own pricing strategy, cost models and negotiation frameworks across wafer/BE pricing, NREs, mask costs and take/pay commitments.
Lead complex commercial negotiations including volume commitments, rebates, capacity corridors and risk sharing structures
Partner with Legal and Finance to structure contracts that balance flexibility, cost and supply assurance
Capacity Planning & Risk Management
Lead mid to long term capacity planning in collaboration with Operations , Supply Chain and Business Units
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks related to geopotilics capacity constraints, yield ramps, and technology transitions
Develop contingency and dual sourcing strategies where feasible
Cross Functional Leadership
Act as key interface between foundry partners and internal engineering, product and operations teams
Ensure sourcing input is embedded early in product selection, design win and node migration decisions
Align sourcing deicsions with customer requirements and end market expectations
Team leadership & Capability
Build, mentor and lead a high performing foundry sourcing team with deep technical and commercial expertise
Drive functional excellence , process discipline, and data driven decision making
Elevate executive presence and influence of sourcing organisation across Skyworks
Executive & Board Level Engagement
Present sourcing strategy, risk, and opportunities to senior leadership
Provide clear insights on cost, capacity and supply outlook to inform corporate planning
Required Experience and Skills
Bachelors in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related to semiconductors (Master’s or MBA preferred )
20+ years of experience in semiconductor sourcing, supply chain, or foundry management
Deep understanding of semiconductor foundry operations, technology transitions, and cost drivers
Proven track record of leading complex high value commercial negotiations
Strong executive communication skills and ability to influence at C suite and supplier CEO level
Preferred Experience and Skills
Direct experience managing relationship with leading Foundry
Experience supporting high growth or scaling semiconductor business
Experience in M&A
Ability to manage across Asia and US

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$170,100 -$339,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
