Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
Develop positive, professional relationships with directors, Agency Leadership Team members, AEA and school staff, and statewide partners to advance innovation, translate policy and guidance into actionable practices, and strengthen services that improve outcomes for learners.
Lead project management in order to support implementation of the Iowa AEA Strategic Plan by providing system-level coordination, facilitation, and alignment within Northwest Area Education Agency. Provide coaching, support, and supervision for AEA staff.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree in the field of education or related area
Licensure:
Iowa administrator license
Iowa evaluator approval
Minimum of five (5) years of successful professional experience in a school district or educational service agency
Essential Functions
Serve as the assistant to agency directors to provide timely and ongoing support to improve the performance outcomes and well-being of all learners
Manage the implementation of major initiatives and change efforts
Contribute to the timely and accurate submission of applications and reports
Actively engage as a member of the Agency Leadership Team and other teams, as appropriate, to ensure that we adhere to our mission, vision, and anchors with fidelity
Plan and lead small group, departmental, regional, and/or agency-wide meetings as appropriate
Track record of producing positive results in previous assignments.
Represent Northwest AEA in a way that engenders trust and confidence in the agency, its mission, its vision, and anchors
Additional Responsibilities
Routinely engage in coaching, support, and feedback of staff through consistent, weekly contact
Supervise and evaluate assigned management support, certified, and/or classified staff
Regular review and approval of staff calendars, leave requests, and expense & travel reimbursement requests
Demonstrate values, beliefs, and attitudes that inspire agency staff to higher levels of performance
Support and mentor aspiring leaders within the AEA
Provide visionary leadership and oversight to AEA/School teams to implement the diagnostic, design, and delivery cycle of Specially Designed Instruction
Assist the Chief Administrator and designees with General Supervision responsibilities (e.g., compliance with IDEA, Iowa Administrative Rules, etc.)
Advocate for all students with diverse learning needs, especially children with IEPs, to support practices that align with the spirit and intent of all federal and state mandates.
Collaborate with service providers and agency staff to improve student learning
Maintain confidentiality related to agency, school, student, and/or family information
Skills and Abilities
Written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills
Behave ethically and professionally
Technology skills to complete and disseminate appropriate documentation of activities and results
