Grading Superintendent
Overall responsibility for the successful completion of turn‑key grading projects including utilities, on time and within budget. Directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction grading work. Oversee the production and performance of multiple crews and supervisors as they operate one or several types of equipment. Team member will have 5+ years experience as a grading superintendent.

Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present. Be the #1 safety advocate for your crew
Plan and coordinate Daily Hazard Briefings to ensure crew understands the work plan and the associated hazards of the day
Report incidents immediately to the risk management team in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the Company
Train and develop new team members in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures and/or Company policies
Enter daily project data including but not limited to accurate labor, equipment and quantity reporting
Supervise and work alongside teams and occasionally subcontractors to assist in the installation and construction of grading projects
Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures
Inspect work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
Locate, measure and mark site locations or placement of equipment, using measuring and marking equipment
Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities
Coordinate weekly look ahead and resources with Site Division VP
Assign work to team members based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs
Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs
Coordinate material and supplies orders with Support Services
Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery
Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires or discipline
Interact clients and study instructions, plans or diagrams to establish work requirement. Interactions will include in‑person meetings, digital communications and phone communication
Operate equipment as needed
Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities
Willingness to work hours as required
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is preferred
Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with jobsite supervisors and fellow team members
Must have strong coordination, time management, active listening, communication, critical thinking and reasoning skills
Working knowledge of Trimble GPS systems
Knowledge or erosion control installation, maintenance and documentation
Knowledge or water, sewer and storm drain installation
Must be able to effectively use all required PPE and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently.
Must have a valid driver’s license with clean MVR for at least 3 years
