Position Summary This is a full‑time position for a Safety Director located in Stow, Ohio. The Director of Safety is responsible for the safety of the employees on all work sites. This position works closely with Project Managers, field manpower, and Executive Management to ensure compliance with OSHA and ODOT regulations. The job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasked environment with a focus on safety practices and requires travel to job sites.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Maintain, update, and implement safety programs that incorporate required OSHA and ODOT regulations.
Manage the Safety Department budget.
Ensure accurate and timely record keeping of all safety programs and training.
Inspect, implement and monitor all work sites to ensure compliance with OSHA and ODOT standards.
Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA and State/Local Regulators).
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal workplace environmental health and safety regulations.
Monitor and participate in accident investigations to ensure root‑cause analysis is appropriately conducted and corrective action implemented.
Serve as corporate expert on specific safety programs.
Manage the site‑specific safety program to ensure a safe environment for all employees working on all job sites.
Drive and promote zero incidents through safety culture.
Track, validate and summarize safety performance throughout the company.
Have a complete understanding of claims management and workers’ compensation reporting requirements.
Travel up to 50% of the time to conduct job site visits.
Assess and evaluate insurance claims related to job site safety.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong knowledge of fundamentals of construction safety, accident prevention, occupational injury, industry safety criteria, risk management and incident investigation techniques and methods.
Strong verbal skills that influence, lead, and coach others within the organization.
Significant experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Demonstration of a positive attitude.
Ability to deal with fraught situations in a professional manner.
Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results.
Build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees and management.
Demonstrate integrity and professionalism.
Demonstrate commitment to company values.
Education and Experience
5+ years’ safety experience in the field of construction.
First Aid/CPR certification.
OSHA 510.
OSHA 30‑hour course.
