SUMMARY Assist the Principal in providing the leadership necessary to assure an educational environment which is a safe, attractive, pleasant and productive place in which to work and learn. Support the staff as they seek to meet the needs of each student.
The primary function of the Athletic Director is to manage and oversee the District's interscholastic athletic program and promote the development of each student who participates in the program. Serve as a mentor to coaches and provide the leadership and professional development to all coaching staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
Serve as principal in the absence of the principal.
Assist in the preparation of reports, registration/orientation of students and evaluation of staff.
Maintain discipline throughout the school and addressing special issues as necessary.
Facilitate communication between school staff, students, parents and the community.
Participate in district level meetings, programs and staff development planning activities.
Supervise and evaluate assigned certified and non-certified staff members.
Enforce student handbook and assign consequences for handbook infractions.
Monitor and implement Activities Handbook
Assist the principal with professional development.
Prepare reports for district or other personnel as needed.
Supervise student and staff parking lot.
Complete scheduling of all extracurricular events.
Supervise extracurricular events as assigned by principal.
Prepares a master calendar that includes conference and non-conference games/events.
Coordinates gym, building and athletic field use with the District Office and maintain the district building use calendar.
Coordinates gym use for practices and games
Coordinates the maintenance program for facilities and fields with advisement from the Superintendent and Maintenance Supervisor.
Verifies that each athlete has on file proof of insurance, a physical examination, a parental consent and an emergency permission form.
Administers the insurance program covering school athletes and assumes responsibility that all reports and claims are done through the school office.
Works with coaching staff and transportation supervisor to schedule all athletic departure times and provide bus supervision with trip sheets.
Coordinates the hiring and paying of officials and supervisors.
Assumes overall responsibility for the proper supervision of home games, ticket sales, and the proper handling and accounting of all monies involved.
Assists in selecting, assigning, and evaluating coaching personnel.
Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a M.S. in school administration
Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Administrative Endorsement.
Strong Leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs.

Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems

Communicate with parents through a variety of means
Utilize a variety of methods to communicate with parents including parent conferences

Maintain professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and selected professional growth activities
Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator throughout the evaluation process in conformance with the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Ability to adapt to different personalities in team experiences
Ethics
Abide by the Code of Ethics of the Washington GSD 52 (Policy 5:120)
Responsibilities
Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
Provide initial care in the event of an accident or injury in or out of the classroom until the arrival of other emergency personnel
Inspect District property and observe activities on District property for unsafe conditions which may lead to injury; correct any unsafe practices and conditions and to report all other potential safety hazards to their supervisors
Work with supervisors to develop and maintain a program of safe conditions and practices for the welfare of the students, faculty, employees, volunteers, visitors, and other invitees.
