SALARY RANGE: $32.95 – $36.50/hr.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Mortgage Processing Manager, the Mortgage Processing Team Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to a team of Mortgage Processors. This role is a working lead position, responsible for both maintaining an individual pipeline and overseeing the quality, timeliness, and consistency of the team’s workflow.

The Mortgage Processing Team Lead helps drive operational excellence, supports staff development, promotes consistent adherence to policies and procedures, and ensures outstanding customer experience for both internal and external clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide daily leadership and oversight to a team of Mortgage Processors.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the daily work of direct reports to ensure timely and accurate processing of mortgage loan files.
  • Train, coach, and motivate staff to support performance, accountability, and ongoing development.
  • Monitor team production, workflow, and service levels to ensure loans are processed in accordance with established turn times, service standards, and departmental goals.
  • Partner closely with the Mortgage Processing Manager to oversee pipeline flow and ensure loans are disclosed, processed, and moved through the pipeline in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Serve as a day-to-day resource for Processors on pipeline management, problem resolution, file strategy, and escalation support.
  • Maintain an active personal pipeline of approximately 20–30 loans while meeting expectations for accuracy, timeliness, and customer service.
  • Ensure processing staff maintains complete, accurate, and current information in the Bank’s Loan Origination System.
  • Reinforce and monitor adherence to department procedures, investor requirements, compliance expectations, and internal controls.
  • Review file quality trends and performance results to identify coaching opportunities, process gaps, and potential workflow improvements.
  • Provide timely feedback to staff to support continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and service.
  • Cross-train staff across key processing functions to strengthen team flexibility, coverage, and operational consistency.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for mortgage processing policies, procedures, systems, products, and workflow.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of loan programs, investor guidelines, and automated underwriting systems, including DU, LP, and GUS.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-priority loan issues.
  • Assist the Mortgage Processing Manager in developing, updating, and maintaining written procedures, job aids, and workflow documentation for key processing functions.
  • Work collaboratively with Loan Officers, Underwriting, Closing, Secondary, Compliance, and other internal partners to promote a team-oriented culture and seamless customer experience.
  • Actively demonstrate and promote the behaviors and service standards outlined in the GRB Experience.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years residential mortgage processing experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have or be able to obtain a National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) number and remain active with the S.A.F.E Act registration throughout the duration of employment (with GRB assistance).
  • Senior-level processing experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory, team lead, mentoring, or coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential mortgage products, guidelines, documentation, and processing workflow.
  • Experience with automated underwriting systems, including DU, LP, and GUS, preferred.
  • Prior experience using a mortgage loan origination system required; Encompass experience preferred.
