Scope of Position
The Director of Sales will be responsible for driving hotel revenue by leading the sales strategy, managing the sales team, and building relationships with corporate, group and leisure clients. The role focuses heavily on room revenue, group bookings, and partnerships with businesses and event planners. This role collaborates closely with hotel leadership to achieve financial goals.
Position Requirements
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a four-star environment.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience at a hotel/resort.
- Strategic thinking combined with the proven ability to move strategy to action.
- Comfortable in discussion forums; able to represent ideas succinctly and convincingly.
- Excellent group presentation skills, writing, speaking and training skills.
- Interpersonal, diplomacy, business analysis skills.
- Excellent negotiation skills.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual sales and marketing plans.
- Drive group, corporate, and leisure business to the hotel.
- Identify new market segments and business opportunities.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure adherence among the sales team.
- Monitor production and analyze trends of top accounts within the market segment.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements with clients.
- Maintain regular contact with existing accounts based on prescribed frequencies.
- Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
- Efficiently use the hotel's computerized sales management system for business management, reporting, account creation, and space allocation.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of group sales managers and assistants.
- Collect market and competitive intelligence to assess and implement rate strategies to achieve short‑and long‑term goals.
- Maximize net room revenue contribution with a thorough understanding of all group booking channels
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
- Bachelor's degree and/or Hotel Management degree preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to assimilate complex information and understand financial data.
- Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Physical Requirements
- On a continuous basis, sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen.
- Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.
- Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
- Occasionally lift, push, pull and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Able to travel for client/visits and appointments.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
