As the Director of Sales, you will act as a senior leader; driving revenue growth, market positioning, and long-term client relationships for a professional solar and renewable energy engineering firm. You will own and oversee multiple business functions including marketing, business development, and account management while being accountable for building a predictable, high-quality pipeline of professional services work. As a leader, you will mentor and develop sales and marketing staff to achieve results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm’s go-to-market strategy and brand positioning, refining value proposition, messaging, thought leadership, and industry presence to differentiate in a competitive professional services market.
  • Drive strategic growth and market expansion by identifying emerging industry trends, translating them into service offerings, forming key partnerships, and ensuring disciplined opportunity qualification aligned with company capacity and priorities.
  • Own strategic business development and major pursuits, including target account strategy, relationship mapping, executive engagement, and win planning for high-value opportunities.
  • Serve as executive relationship lead for key accounts, ensuring long-term client satisfaction, retention, expansion, cross-selling, and proactive commercial issue resolution.
  • Oversee revenue performance and commercial operations, including pipeline health, forecasting, KPI tracking, and long-term account planning aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Build and develop a high-performing commercial team, mentoring sales and marketing staff while continuously improving overall market effectiveness and client mix.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in professional services sales, business development, or marketing leadership.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing high-value client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of solar development, EPC, grid interconnection, and/or energy infrastructure markets.
  • Proven experience selling complex, consultative, professional services rather than commoditized products.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
