Position Overview The Benefits Account Manager plays a key role in client satisfaction and retention by managing the full lifecycle of employee benefits accounts. This position oversees renewals, open enrollment, and ongoing service while providing strategic guidance on benefit plans. The role focuses on delivering a seamless client experience, strengthening relationships, and supporting long-term client success.
Work Arrangement This is a part-time position reporting to our office located in Fairfax, VA with the possibility of hybrid or remote work arrangements.
Professional Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding benefit goals and organizational objectives
Guide clients through annual renewal processes, including pre-renewal planning and open enrollment execution
Develop and implement carrier renewal strategies aligned with client needs
Prepare and present renewal analyses, including spreadsheets and supporting documentation
Create and distribute enrollment materials, including benefit guides and communication pieces
Manage post-renewal activities, ensuring accurate implementation of plan changes
Communicate effectively with clients and carriers to resolve issues and ensure timely service
Maintain accurate client records, renewal documentation, and system updates
Process new business, policy changes, and additional lines of coverage
Conduct claims reviews and identify trends, cost drivers, and optimization opportunities
Assist with claims issues, appeals, ID cards, and employee benefit inquiries
Support employee enrollment updates, eligibility changes, and carrier/vendor coordination
Deliver client education sessions and support benefits communication strategies
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance the client experience
Qualifications and Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
2+ years of experience in employee benefits, account management, or client service within the insurance industry
Virginia Life & Health Insurance License
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field (preferred)
Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, including plan design and compliance considerations
Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
Excellent communication and client service skills
Strong organizational and project management abilities
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and benefits/agency management platforms
High attention to detail and accuracy
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
