WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Own key chain account relationships

— Build and maintain trust‑based partnerships with chain account buyers through strategic pitches, consistent follow‑through, and a genuine understanding of what drives their business

Drive growth with a real plan behind it

— Build and execute account‑level strategies that deliver measurable volume and dollar share, and course‑correct with urgency when results aren't tracking

Turn data into decisions

— Synthesize insights from IRI, VIP, field observations, and distributor feedback to spot opportunities, close gaps, and make the case internally and externally

Navigate complexity without losing momentum

— Manage competing priorities, contradictory market signals, and a high volume of moving parts — and still deliver clear, disciplined execution

Show up as a brand ambassador who knows the business

KEY ACCOUNTS MANAGER LOCATION:

Cincinnati, OH, Hybrid — Primary home base at MadTree Oakley Taproom, with regular field presence required at key accounts across the OH/KY market and occasional regional travel

COMPENSATION RANGE:

$62,245 - $87,296

VARIABLE COMPENSATION:

Up to $12,000 annually (distributed quarterly, earned through achievement of key sales metrics)

SCHEDULE:

M–F / Regular business hours, with flexibility for account needs including occasional evenings and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Key Accounts Manager drives revenue growth by developing and managing relationships with key chain account buyers across our largest sales channel. This role requires a strategic thinker who can identify opportunities, negotiate effectively, and ensure flawless execution of programs and plans. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors — Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Account Relationship Management

Build and maintain trust‑based relationships with key chain account buyers by developing and presenting strategic pitches designed to deliver volume growth and dollar share in the markets we serve

Conduct regular buyer meetings to sell‑in new products, programs, and promotional activities — including new and limited‑release products

Develop "second‑level" relationships with store operations and management to gain a competitive edge in jump‑ball retail opportunities

Maintain a consistent market visitation schedule across all assigned territories, working from a quarterly target account list with clear priorities and outcomes

Revenue Strategy & Business Development

Aggressively pursue new distribution opportunities and execute a strategic account plan that drives measurable growth in chain accounts, both on‑premise and off‑premise

Lead the development and execution of account‑level initiatives within the Craft and RTD segments, including promotions, pricing, programming, and distribution strategies

Assist in Annual Business Planning by delivering customer overviews, category insights, and volume and financial forecasts that inform the broader commercial strategy

Develop and implement account‑level survey processes to verify execution of programs and close gaps before they become problems

Data, Analytics & Reporting

Complete monthly and quarterly business reports based on data, observations, and insights from the market.

Manage VIP and Armadillo/IRI subscriptions, including new item submissions, portfolio maintenance, data discrepancy resolution, and KARMA Survey maintenance

Deliver in‑depth analysis of brand performance and category trends to drive internal strategic planning, retail presentations, and monthly distributor planning sessions

Measure, monitor, and report on all Key Performance Indicators; develop and execute tactical plans to close any gaps against strategic targets

Communicate sales and promotional activity, monthly chain updates, pricing changes, new products, and promotional calendars to all relevant stakeholders in a clear and timely manner

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Serve as the connective tissue between key chain accounts, distributor partners, and the internal MadTree sales team — ensuring shared expectations, clear accountability, and disciplined execution across brands, programming, pricing, timing, and volume

Partner with internal teams (marketing, creative, finance) to align programming with brand strategy and ensure sell‑in materials are sharp and on‑brand

Company Culture & Professional Development

Enthusiastically participate in a minimum of 16 hours per year of paid volunteer work for MadTree Impact initiatives

Complete assigned training programs and maintain current knowledge of market trends, competitive landscape, and the three‑tier system

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: what you’ve done To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience

3+ years of sales experience in the craft beverage, CPG, or adjacent industry

2+ years of experience calling on national or regional chain accounts

Demonstrated knowledge of the On and Off‑Premise key accounts environment and the three‑tier distribution system

Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with top‑level account decision makers, distributor partners, and internal stakeholders

Professional organizational, analytical, and communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to tailor your message to different audiences

Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically in a competitive market

Ability to analyze high volumes of sales data from multiple sources, including IRI, VIP, iDig, and KARMA

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, sales tracking, and ongoing spreadsheet management

Ability to build and maintain organized reporting tools and working documents using Google Sheets and/or Excel

Experience creating and delivering professional sales presentations using Google Slides or equivalent tools

Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications

Valid driver's license with active auto insurance, a clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle

Ability to travel regionally up to 25% of the time, with occasional evening, weekend, and national travel as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Helpful but not required)

Experience in the craft beverage industry with existing relationships in the OH and/or KY market

Familiarity with distributor management and national/regional chain account planning processes

Experience presenting category reviews and business plans to retail buyers

Comfort working in a fast‑moving, independent environment with a high degree of ownership and autonomy

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb

Ability to frequently talk and hear

Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
