Brief Position Overview This on-site position will support AHEC / MORH in conducting activities to align with the mission of the department by developing and implementing strategic outreach initiatives to strengthen relationships with partners, stakeholders, and communities while advancing organizational goals. This role leads event planning and statewide convenings, manages advisory committee coordination, oversees public‑facing communications and social media strategy, cultivates partnerships, and analyzes outreach impact to ensure cohesive, effective engagement across all platforms.

Salary Salary $60,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications

General Statement The Montana Office of Rural Health and Area Health Education Center ( MORH / AHEC ) is dedicated to strengthening healthcare across Montana. We work as a unified force to address the unique healthcare challenges facing our state. These foundational investments enable us to pursue additional funding, expand our reach, and ensure rural communities have access to the healthcare training and support they need. This position will be on‑site at Montana State University – Bozeman.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement community outreach strategies that strengthen MORH / AHEC relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and the public.

Plan, coordinate, and execute events including community forums, educational workshops, stakeholder meetings, and large statewide convenings in person and online.

Serve as primary staff liaison for the statewide advisory committees, including scheduling, agenda development, facilitation support, and follow‑up.

Create and manage promotional and educational materials, including newsletters, presentations, reports, social media content, and website updates.

Develop and manage MORH /AHEC’s social media strategy, including content planning, creation, scheduling, and engagement across platforms.

Ensure all public‑facing materials maintain a cohesive voice, visual identity, and alignment with organizational standards.

Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and public agencies to advance organizational initiatives.

Manage logistics for large‑scale meetings, including venue coordination, technology setup, materials preparation, and participant communication.

Monitor and respond to requests from key partners in a timely and professional manner.

Collect, analyze, and report data related to outreach efforts, event participation, and community impact.

Represent MORH / AHEC at community events, meetings, and public forums.

Support internal teams with communication strategies that promote programs, services, and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public health, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

3+ years of experience in community engagement, event coordination, marketing, public relations, or stakeholder management.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging for various audiences.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience working with universities, government agencies, public health systems, or rural communities.

Proven success coordinating large meetings or multi‑stakeholder initiatives.

Experience managing social media accounts and developing promotional campaigns.

Familiarity with data collection, reporting, and evaluation methods for outreach or community programs.

Experience facilitating committees, advisory groups, or public engagement sessions.

Experience utilizing Content Management Systems (CMS) to assist in the maintenance of organizational web pages.

Familiarity with creative tools (such as Canva or similar platforms) to develop visually engaging flyers, educational handouts, and digital resources.

Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness when managing last‑minute requests or complex partner needs.

Take initiative and work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams. Show strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing events and communications.

Be comfortable coordinating large, high‑visibility meetings and public events.

Use data and feedback to continuously improve outreach and engagement efforts.

Represent MORH / AHEC with credibility, diplomacy, and enthusiasm.

Maintain a positive, solutions‑oriented approach when working with partners or tight timelines.
