
Customer Payment Specialist

As a Customer Payment Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate processing of customer mortgage payments. Collaborate with various business units to adhere to company guidelines and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately and promptly post customer payments and payoffs to the servicing system, and perform daily reconciliation of all posted items.
Disburse checks and conduct thorough reconciliations of all disbursement activities.
Communicate with attorneys, title agents, and borrowers regarding short payoffs to facilitate smooth transactions.
Establish and manage ACH accounts with precision.
Troubleshoot pending and exception items, maintaining awareness of daily exception reports to reduce company risk.
Handle transaction reversals such as NSF and other posting corrections effectively.
Scan mortgage payments into the servicing system and the depository bank, ensuring secure and efficient processing.
Receive, open, and process incoming mail, while tracking and documenting Cash Management items carefully.
Exhibit regular and punctual attendance, fully complying with company policies and procedures.
Conduct data analysis and reconciliation pertaining to payment applications for accuracy.
Perform root cause analysis to proactively minimize risks to the company.
Utilize documented fact-based decision-making within your authority level.
Engage in research and remediation processes with minimal data to resolve issues.
Adapt quickly to new situations and learn promptly.
Complete other related tasks as assigned to support team goals.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or GED
Vocational or Technical School Certificate or Associate/Bachelor’s Degree preferred
0-1 years of relevant work experience; however, 2-4 years is preferred.
Licensure, Certification, and Other Requirements:
No specific licenses or certifications required.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Experience with Sagent and LoanServ is a plus.
Strong accounting/mathematical skills, particularly in basic arithmetic.
Proficient in data entry with a focus on accuracy and speed.
Intermediate Excel skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyze data effectively.
Familiarity with banking software for posting, depositing, and reconciling checks.
