Serve in Panhandle Pensacola, FL Grace Community Church is established in Pensacola on the Gulf Coast of the Florida panhandle. Also known as the Emerald Coast, there is ample opportunity for recreation on the beaches and inland amongst the forest. Pensacola is a melting pot of many traditions and cultures, further enhanced by its strong college presence. It is a military town with a history rich in Naval aviation best represented by the Navy’s Blue Angels. Northwest Florida is ripe with opportunity to spread the gospel and reach the world for Christ. Position Summary: GCC is seeking a Senior Pastor who, as a member of the Board of Elders, will provide spiritual leadership and biblically equip the church body to pursue the stated vision of GCC by the grace of God and for His glory. Primary Responsibilities
Pastoral duties
Preach and teach the Word of God regularly. Overall responsibility for public worship services, initiating and leading in private and corporate prayer. Administer the ordinances. Provide pastoral care, prayer, counseling, and nurture for the people of GCC. Teach and preserve the biblical doctrines of the church.
Leadership duties
Model godliness in speech, relationships, and lifestyle. Serve with the elders to provide overall vision and leadership to GCC. Work with the elders to develop and communicate the mission, vision, and strategy of GCC, leading the church toward an effective and dynamic discipleship culture. Oversee the development and implementation of ministry objectives and goals. Provide guidance, encouragement and oversight of all ministry teams and small groups. Develop and supervise ministry and church staff.
Kingdom duties
Represent the church to the community. Develop supportive and collaborative relationships with other evangelical churches in the area. Strengthen relationship with the denomination and other EFCA churches in the district.
What We’re Looking For
Abilities & Experience
Minimum of five years’ ministry experience Able to preach expository and Biblical teaching Minimum of a Master of Divinity (or equivalent) from an evangelical institution Character & Calling A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ A proven heart for discipleship Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle, fulfilling the biblical leadership qualifications of an elder described in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 Complete agreement with the doctrinal statement of GCC and an ability to defend it Potential and desire to remain in a long-term ministry at GCC
Additional Qualifications
Competent in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships. Ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America, or willing to obtain or transfer ordination within three years. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to be insured by the church’s insurance carrier. Must be able to pass GCC’s employment background clearance.
