Position Summary The AWS RDS Database Engineer performs independently or as a key multi‑functional team member in identifying, planning, developing, and deploying database applications and other technology solutions that can involve multiple physical locations and business units. Acts as the single point of contact for AWS database administration and escalations for the Banking Industry project.

Essential Job Functions

10‑12 years of experience in managing Postgres databases; at least 5 years on AWS cloud version (RDS) with security policy, IAM, user authentication, and database administration.

Install, configure, patch, migrate, maintain, and upgrade open‑source databases such as PostgreSQL and AWS RDS.

Working knowledge of EDB, Oracle, SQL Server and day‑to‑day operation on S3, EC2, etc.

Implement effective and maintainable database coding practices that form an architectural foundation.

Postgres SQL performance improvement, indexing, partitioning, message queuing, full‑text indexing, and other high‑performance data concepts.

Experience in AWS environment management and knowledge of related tools.

Postgres SQL migration approach, estimation, and technical management.

Advanced understanding of Linux OS, SSH connectivity with password & public/private keys.

Efficient database coding without compromising data quality, privacy, or security.

Hands‑on experience in Jira, GitHub, Ansible & Terraform.

CI/CD using GitLab.

Batch process and job scheduling automation.

Database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics, isolation levels.

Strong troubleshooting, evaluating alternative solutions and workarounds.

Strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills.

Good verbal and written communication; proficient in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems for client‑facing experience.

Position Requirements

AWS RDS hands‑on experience.

Capacity planning and performance assessment of AWS RDS.

Strong Postgres/SQL Server DB administration experience in production environments.

Configuration and support of complex RDS databases in AWS, including high‑availability, resilience through Aurora Read replicas & Global Database.

Managing multiple RDS instances and database versions on large systems.

Monitoring experience.

Reporting and query tools and practices.

Performance Insights, RDS KPI design, and management.

Working knowledge of Lambda, Python.

PostgreSQL administration and associated tools such as PgBouncer, PgPool and related binaries.

Physical Requirements

Sitting for extended periods.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to use keyboard and mouse.

Physical ability to participate and lead training sessions, presentations, and meetings.

Reasoning and analyzing complex information.

Regularly required to talk and hear.

Overtime may be required to meet deadlines.

Educational Background Graduate degree in CS/EE or Engineering (or equivalent).
