Job Overview Van Winkle & Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated Commercial Construction Assistant Project Manager to support on‑site execution of commercial construction projects throughout the Southeast. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional looking to grow within a respected construction management firm and gain hands‑on exposure across all phases of construction—from pre‑planning through closeout. Working closely with Project Managers and Superintendents, this position plays a critical role in documentation, coordination, procurement, and quality control on active jobsites.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager with all aspects of project execution
Support the Superintendent with coordination and day‑to‑day jobsite needs
Maintain document control for all project records and correspondence
Manage and support technology platforms and project management software
Assist with schedule development, buyout, and pre‑construction planning
Support procurement and inventory management of materials and services
Generate, process, and maintain project logs including RFIs, submittals, photos, and reports
Prepare, process, and distribute Requests for Information (RFIs)
Prepare, process, and distribute Submittals
Assist with change management documentation and tracking
Support material management, including delivery timing, quantities, and logistics
Generate and distribute meeting agendas and meeting minutes
Assist with subcontractor meetings, OAC meetings, and pre‑installation meetings
Support quality control and quality management efforts across the project lifecycle
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in commercial construction preferred
Prior on‑site experience as a Project Engineer or Project Management Role preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
Working knowledge of construction processes from groundbreaking through closeout
Exposure to steel, concrete, masonry, and wood‑framed construction (multi‑family, hospitality, student housing, senior living)
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, on‑site environment
Proficiency with construction software and Microsoft Office tools
Willingness to travel throughout Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida, primarily within a 3‑hour radius of Atlanta
