The Event Sales Manager is responsible for both selling and executing group and catering events, acting as the primary liaison between clients and hotel operations. This role blends proactive sales with detailed event planning, ensuring a seamless experience from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up.
This position focuses on generating and servicing business across weddings, social events, corporate meetings, and group bookings, while maximizing revenue, guest satisfaction, and long‑term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Actively solicit, prospect, and secure new business in weddings, social, and corporate segments
Respond to inquiries, prepare proposals, and present customized event solutions
Negotiate contracts and pricing to maximize revenue and profitability
Monitor and manage sales pipeline (prospect, tentative, confirmed, and lost business) to improve conversion rates
Conduct site tours and client meetings, including evenings and weekends as needed
Event Planning & Execution
Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of group and catering events
Serve as the primary contact for clients throughout the planning process
Detail all event requirements including food & beverage, audiovisual, room blocks, and event agendas
Oversee billing instructions, contracts, and final event reviews
Ensure seamless event execution through strong communication with operations teams
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships to drive repeat business
Deliver exceptional service throughout the entire event lifecycle
Provide timely and professional follow-up on all client inquiries and requests
Collaboration & Operations
Lead and participate in event meetings and internal staff meetings
Work closely with Sales, Events, Culinary, and Operations teams to ensure alignment
Partner with administrative and support staff to execute events efficiently
Maintain a strong understanding of hotel offerings, services, and competitive landscape
Revenue & Performance Focus
Maximize event revenue, room block utilization, and overall profitability
Ensure adherence to brand standards and service excellence
Identify opportunities for upselling and enhancing the guest experience
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in hotel sales, catering, or event planning (luxury environment preferred)
Proven experience in event sales and servicing, including weddings and social events
Strong sales skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate and close business
Excellent organizational and time management skills in a fast‑paced environment
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
Proficient in general computer systems and hotel sales/event platforms
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
