Position Overview The Operations Assistant for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation provides operational and logistical support for Rhode Island College’s athletic, recreation, and club sports programs. This role assists with the preparation and set‑up of practices, competitions, and events, while supporting daily equipment room operations including gear preparation, laundry, and equipment distribution. The position also helps coordinate equipment inventory and maintenance, assists with facility operations for athletic and community events, and supports web broadcasting and other technical needs for athletic programs. The Operations Assistant works closely with athletic department staff to ensure that facilities, equipment, and operational needs are prepared efficiently to support student‑athletes and campus recreation activities.
Primary Purpose To provide overall, general support to the intercollegiate athletic, campus recreation and club sport programming with specific emphasis on equipment standards and equipment room operations.
Assist in ensuring that ancillary requirements and set‑ups are available for all intercollegiate programs’ practices and games (i.e., scoreboards, game lines, cleanliness, etc.).
Daily support of all equipment room operations including game and practice gear preparation, laundry and distribution/retrieval of equipment.
Assist with web broadcasting production and equipment set‑up and operations.
Coordinates the usage and regular maintenance of the department vehicle fleet.
Assist in facility oversight for community‑based income producing events as needed.
Assist in the oversight of ancillary protocols and operations for sports’ camps and sports’ instructional schools.
Assist in the inventory, inspection and maintenance of program equipment to ensure its safe operation for students and student‑athletes.
Occasional Duties
May be required to drive Athletic Department Van to and/or from events.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Operations or the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Able to learn quickly and adjust in a fast‑paced, technical environment.
Possess highly developed organizational skills.
Capability to follow established policies, procedures and protocols.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all campus constituencies.
Must possess and maintain a valid State issued Driver’s License.
Hold current AEMA Certification, or obtain within 6 months of hire.
Computer literacy with relevant scheduling and inventory platforms.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant field of study
Experience: Two years’ experience in intercollegiate athletics, recreation or coaching or a relevant professional field.
Preferred Qualifications Does this position have Direct Reports? No
Environmental Conditions The employee is not exposed to known adverse environmental conditions.

Full Time / Part Time Full-time
Proposed Starting Salary Range $45,000 - $55,000
Work Schedule The work schedule may vary depending on the operational needs of the athletic programs and may require evening, weekend, and occasional travel to support practices, competitions, and other related activities.
