The Benefits Analyst supports the delivery, operations, and ongoing improvement of the company's health, welfare, and retirement programs. This role is responsible for analyzing benefits data, monitoring trends, and providing insights that inform plan design, vendor performance, compliance, and cost management. The Analyst manages and validates data across HRIS and vendor systems, and assists with the development of reports, dashboards, and models that evaluate benefits utilization and financial impact.

The role plays a key part in annual enrollment activities, plan renewals, system updates, and vendor integrations, including documenting processes. The Benefits Analyst partners closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors to support operational workflows, and enhance the client experience. Strong communication skills are required to translate complex benefits concepts into clear, practical information for stakeholders. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.

Essential Functions:

Analyze benefits data to identify trends, cost drivers, and utilization patterns

Develop reports, dashboards, and models that summarize benefits performance and financial impact

Support annual enrollment activities, plan renewals, and system or vendor updates

Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and vendors to provide up-to-date and accurate financial information on costs of benefits and enrollment statistics

Help to resolve data issues and maintain operational accuracy

Communicate technical information in clear, concise, non-technical language

Document processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance

Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and data quality

Technical & Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret benefits trends, costs, and utilization

Experience working with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP) and benefits administration platforms

Ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and produce actionable insights

Ability to develop dashboards or reports summarizing benefits performance, enrollment, and cost metrics

Familiarity with vendor file feeds, eligibility rules, and data validation processes

Fluency in high-value Excel functions:

SUMIFS, VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, IFERROR, and so on

Pivot tables and slicers

Conditional formatting

Building rate models and performing cost projections

Data quality and file management:

Working with vendor files and matching datasets with internal HRIS reporting

Auditing data for mismatches, missing values, or outliers

Creating standardized templates for recurring audits

High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail

Ability to communicate complex benefits concepts in clear, concise terms, not jargon

Project & Operational Skills:

Experience supporting annual enrollment, plan renewals, and system updates

Ability to coordinate testing for changes to HR systems or vendor integrations

Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines

Process improvement mindset, including identifying inefficiencies and proposing solutions

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business administration, human resources, or a related field required

2+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR or finance role required

An equivalent combination of education and experience, sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company, may be accepted.
