As a Real Estate Appraisal Associate in the Commercial Bank Risk Real Estate Appraisal team, you will work with a state certified general real estate appraiser in the preparation of a variety of multifamily and commercial appraisal assignments. You will collect, organize, analyze, and report appraisal related market data through internal and external data sources, and understand all company research related database and software programs. You will also conduct property‑level due diligence and/or inspections of properties as part of the valuation process.

This position will provide you with hands‑on real estate experience that will prepare you with requisite experience and training to fulfill and excel in a Multi‑family appraiser role in the firm.

Job Responsibilities

Collect, organize, analyze, and report appraisal related market data through internal and external data sources, and understand all company research related database and software programs.

Monitor the local and regional commercial real estate markets and reporting on any pertinent news or trends.

Conduct property‑level due diligence and/or inspect properties as part of the valuation process.

Assist in the preparation of appraisal reports, with responsibility for completing appraisals being increased over tenure in the position.

Work closely with a general certified appraiser in order to complete appraisal assignments in a timely manner.

Estimate the market value of collateral/security for real estate loans in accordance with internal policies/procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Interview real estate market participants for rent surveys, sales verifications, and subject property analysis.

Perform other duties as assigned, as necessary.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Strong analytical, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills within a group setting and individually.

Advanced oral and written communication skills.

Computer/technology knowledge is required as well as a proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite).

The ability to self‑motivate and manage time efficiently to meet service level deadlines.

A passion for learning about local real estate market areas and neighborhoods.

A strong desire to gain an in‑depth understanding of various building construction types, flood/environmental hazards, earthquake standards, and zoning conditions, which are expected to increase over the tenure in this position.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or Real Estate related area is preferred.

Must have a General, Residential, or Trainee Appraiser license and/or equivalent education and experience, with intent to pursue the General Real Estate Appraiser state license.

Strong emphasis on multifamily product ranging from 5 to 500 units.

Exposure to multifamily or commercial real estate transactions or analytics is preferred.

Ability to independently travel to property inspections and perform market research.
