Salary: Salary Based on Qualifications
The Deputy Clerk II will start in the criminal division and is expected to be cross‑trained for the courtroom. This role is responsible for preparing all necessary paperwork to reflect the judge’s orders and probation violations in criminal proceedings, allowing our criminal supervisors to manage cases effectively and efficiently. The Deputy Clerk II must multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Other responsibilities include researching guidelines, composing and typing routine documents, organizing and maintaining departmental records, updating the case management system (CCMS) and financial management system (FAS). The Deputy Clerk II performs advanced duties based on circuit court knowledge, serves in court case management and financial support, interfaces with judges and staff, prepares court orders, disseminates orders and findings, and reviews and exchanges court rulings with appropriate agencies. Processing judicial documents such as case entry, capias, jail mail, subpoena duces tecum, Commonwealth Attorney subpoenas, letters of representation, payment agreements, front‑counter customer service, and cash credits. Additionally, the role involves entering new cases from lower courts and certified appeals cases.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and court experience.
Minimum of two years of related, full‑time equivalent experience.
No special certifications or licenses required.
Employees may be expected to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Circuit (CC), General District (GDC) or Juvenile Domestic Relations (JDR) experience.
Attention to detail and sound judgment with competing priorities.
Capability to cross‑train within the criminal and civil divisions.
Customer‑relations experience in a court setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Excel, and knowledge of CCMS and FAS.
Ability to draft legal documents accurately.
Experience handling confidential paperwork.
Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
Experience coordinating with team staff and database systems.
