Chevron is seeking highly experienced and motivated Tax Advisor/Sr. Tax Advisor to support the preparation, analysis, review of Chevron Corporation’s U.S. federal income tax filings and audits. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a key technical resource within Tax Operations, collaborating/partnering with various teams across Chevron’s global operations.

In addition to core tax operations responsibilities, select candidates may have the opportunity to support Tax Systems and CorpTax-related initiatives, including partnering with the Tax Systems team and serving as a key resource for CorpTax process execution, enhancements, and continuity.

The successful candidate will be assigned within a specific group in Tax Operations based on business needs and individual qualifications.

Candidate Selection Criteria Candidate selection criteria will include tax technical knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills, teamwork and interpersonal skills, clear and effective communication of complex tax concepts, leadership and initiative, planning and organizational ability, US GAAP knowledge, SAP and CORPTAX proficiency, and data analysis skills.

Key Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

Prepare and review complex federal and international tax workpapers to support the U.S. consolidated federal income tax return.

Prepare monthly and quarterly estimated tax payments and taxable income forecast.

Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP requirements and internal policies in all tax-related reporting.

Analyze and review monthly accounting information for various branches, divisions and entities.

Gather and analyze data needed to respond to inquiries from federal and state tax authorities.

Support audits and assist in compiling documentation for tax examinations.

Build a strong understanding of Chevron’s global operations by partnering with both finance and business teams.

Provide tax analysis and insights on proposed transactions, law changes, and other business initiatives (including modeling tax implications).

Identify, design, and implement systems and process enhancements to improve tax compliance, reporting, and audit readiness.

Leverage various tools such as SAP, CORPTAX, and digital tools to streamline data gathering, analysis and reporting processes.

Mentor and provide guidance to less-experienced team members and promote a collaborative environment across departments and with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

CorpTax and SAP expertise.

10+ years of corporate income tax experience, with demonstrated depth in U.S. federal taxation.

Strong tax technical knowledge, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Detail-oriented and proficient in Excel, data analysis, and modeling.

Experience performing complex tax calculations, analysis and tax research.

Proven record in leveraging digital tools to gain efficiencies.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership and lead complex projects or initiatives.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree required; MST preferred.

Preferred / Highly Desired Qualifications

Advanced CorpTax proficiency, including hands‑on experience supporting return processes, validating results, troubleshooting issues, and partnering with functional teams on enhancements or upgrades.

Experience working with SAP‑sourced data and downstream tax data flows to support accurate, timely tax compliance and reporting.

Demonstrated interest in tax process optimization, automation, and systems‑enabled improvements within a tax operations environment.

Relocation Options Relocation is not offered for this role. Only local candidates will be considered.
