Child Welfare Academy (CWA) Trainer

The UAA Child Welfare Academy is accepting applications for a Trainer. We are seeking applicants who have an understanding and ability to work with a highly charged political arena of child protection; skill to communicate with all levels of experience and responsibility within the organization, and to work with many partners in the child welfare system, including the legal arena.

The UAA Child Welfare Academy (CWA) trains and develops professional workers who work with Alaska's children and families to assure children are safe and families are strong.

Responsibilities

Provide state‑of‑the‑art training and staff development to new and existing State of Alaska Office of Children's Services (OCS) professional protective services workers, licensing specialists, and social service associates; may also include OCS supervisors, managers, and partner agencies throughout Alaska.

Develop best practice modules and partner in the development of curriculum and training materials.

Work independently within a complex statewide organization, managing change and thinking critically about training programs.

Communicate effectively with all levels of experience and responsibility within the organization and with many partners in the child welfare system, including the legal arena.

Apply knowledge of federal and state child welfare laws and regulations, NASW Code of Ethics, and federal policy and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Master of Social Work (MSW) or a Master's degree in a related field with three years of child welfare experience; or

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field with four years of child welfare experience, including at least one year in supervision.

Position Details

Full‑time, term‑funded, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.

New hires are placed on UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 81, based on education and experience.

Remote or hybrid work may be approved for employees based in Alaska, subject to the University's discretion; remote work for employees outside Alaska may only be approved in exceptional circumstances or when required by job duties.
