## Education Specialist/Instructional Designer (Hybrid) - Instructional Design Studio* Collaborate with faculty and staff, providing guidance on the effective instructional design of courses and sessions.* Support subject matter experts in the development and creation of content for their courses and instructional sessions.* Provide assistance with the creation of course material/media supporting student learning objectives.* Work collaboratively with ID Studio and other School of Medicine colleagues to create interactive videos and other multimedia for instructional needs.* Liaise with WashU Information Technology and other instructional designers and education specialists to solve common problems and maximize use of available tools, services, spaces, and resources.* Promote available instructional design services within the WashU Medicine community.* Partner in the collaboration and development of training resources for faculty, staff, and/or students.* Partner in the delivery of training sessions for faculty, staff, and/or students.* Develop and manage multiple project plans.* Establish deadlines with project partners, lead project meetings, and effectively communicate project milestones.* Work in collaboration with the Office of Education , with guidance from ETIU leadership to establish priority assignments.* Participate in WashU Medicine community activities and professional development.* As helpful to the institution, attend and present at professional conferences.* As needed, travel to on-campus and off-campus sites to provide collaborative support for instructional content/media.* Other duties as assigned.* Normal office environment.* Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations.* Master’s degree in education, educational technology, instructional design, or a related field.* Three years’ experience as an instructional designer, or equivalent mix of education and practical experience.* Knowledge of instructional design principles and pedagogical modalities frequently used in health professions education.* Experience with current educational technologies and their applications in professional education settings.* Experience with learning management systems including or similar to Canvas.* Experience with multimedia and graphic design software and web design tools.* Experience developing project plans, managing multiple projects, and meeting project deadlines.* Experience articulating emerging learning technologies and collaboration tools to a wide community that includes faculty, professional staff, and School of Medicine partners.* Experience in medical education, health professions education, or healthcare setting.* Teaching or administrative experience with the Canvas LMS.* Demonstrated ability in web conferencing tools, presentation software, and relevant emerging technologies.* Ability to work effectively as part of a team which includes faculty, curriculum staff, and IT staff.* Ability to foster collaborations both internally and externally, demonstrated through a proven record of effective collaboration with colleagues, faculty, staff, and administrators.* Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply new technologies, tools, techniques, and methodologies.* Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.* Demonstrated Microsoft Office Suite abilities.* Demonstrated ability to thrive and lead in a collaborative environment.* Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and instructional skills.* Ability to interact with faculty and staff and develop innovative ways to identify and meet their evolving needs.* Demonstrated ability to learn new technology tools and skills and a strong desire to share this knowledge with others.* Ability to articulate technical and non-technical issues associated with emerging learning technologies and collaboration tools.* Up to 22 days of vacation, 10 recognized holidays, and sick time.* Competitive health insurance packages with priority appointments and lower copays/coinsurance.* Take advantage of our free Metro transit U-Pass for eligible employees.* WashU provides eligible employees with a defined contribution (403(b)) Retirement Savings Plan, which combines employee contributions and university contributions starting at 7%.* WashU covers the cost of tuition for you and your family, including dependent undergraduate-level college tuition up to 100% at WashU and 40% elsewhere after seven years with us.Washington University in St. Louis' collective success is significantly attributed to the passion and outstanding efforts of our community.
