Product Designer - Chicago, IL Hybrid (2–3 days onsite) Reports to: VP of Product.

Salary Range: $90,000-110,000

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a talented product designer to create intuitive, powerful experiences for our eLaw platform. You'll design workflows that help legal professionals navigate complex data challenges — from managing millions of documents to uncovering critical evidence in high‑stakes litigation.

This role requires balancing sophisticated functionality with elegant simplicity. Our users are attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support specialists who need to work efficiently under pressure. Your designs will directly impact their ability to find needles in haystacks, meet tight deadlines, and deliver excellent outcomes for their clients.

You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and customers to understand problems deeply, prototype solutions quickly, and iterate based on real user feedback.

RESPONSIBILITIES User research & discovery (25%)

Conduct user interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability testing with attorneys, paralegals, and litigation support professionals.

Shadow customers to understand eDiscovery workflows, pain points, and decision‑making processes.

Analyze user behavior data, support tickets, and feedback to identify usability issues and opportunities.

Create user personas, journey maps, and workflow diagrams that communicate user needs to the team.

Stay current on legal technology trends, competitor products, and industry best practices.

Design & prototyping (50%)

Design end‑to‑end user experiences for complex features including document review, search, analytics, and data visualization.

Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes that communicate design concepts and facilitate feedback.

Design information architectures that make vast amounts of data accessible and actionable.

Develop UI components and patterns that scale across the product while maintaining consistency.

Balance feature richness with usability, ensuring power users can work efficiently while new users aren't overwhelmed.

Design for accessibility, ensuring our product is usable by people with diverse abilities.

Create responsive designs that work across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Collaboration & delivery (25%)

Partner with product managers to define problems, explore solutions, and prioritize design work.

Work closely with engineers throughout the development process, providing specs, assets, and guidance.

Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives.

Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback into iterations.

Contribute to and maintain our design system, ensuring consistency across the product.

Advocate for users in product discussions and push back on solutions that compromise usability.

Support product launches with onboarding flows, help documentation, and training materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

3–5+ years of experience designing complex SaaS products.

Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end product design work, including research, wireframes, visual design, and shipped products.

Proficiency with design and prototyping tools: Figma, Figma Make, Claude Code, or similar.

Understanding of user research methodologies and ability to translate insights into design decisions.

Strong visual design skills with attention to typography, color, layout, and interaction details.

Ability to design for data‑heavy applications with complex workflows and information hierarchies.

Preferred experience in legal tech or document management, but not required.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills; experience working in agile development environments.
