Marketing Specialist Description Location – Hybrid or Remote from these states (VA, DC, MD, PA, NC, FL, GA, NM, IL, OR, WA, WV, MA, SD, MN, OK & AL)

Salary Range: $53,000 - 68,000

The Marketing Specialist supports the planning and execution of WEF’s brand and events marketing initiatives. This role plays a key part in promoting WEF’s events portfolio, including WEFTEC, North America’s largest water quality event, and contributes to brand-building efforts across digital, print, and experiential channels. This role is ideal for a developing marketing professional with 2–4 years of experience who is ready to take on more complex tasks and gain deeper exposure to campaign execution, digital channels, and event marketing workflows.

Working closely with the Senior Manager of Brand & Events Marketing, the Marketing Specialist helps implement campaigns, manage content and assets, coordinate timelines, track performance, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution. The Marketing Specialist will collaborate with other Marcomm leaders and across WEF as needed to support organization-wide priorities.

The Marketing Specialist must thrive on initiative, problem solving, being agile, inclusive and be a team player. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting a matrixed organization and be eager to support WEF’s mission. Candidates must be a self-starter with motivation to work in a highly collaborative team to make a significant difference in the water sector.

How This Position Contributes to the Team Event & Campaign Support

Support WEFTEC and WEF event marketing campaigns by coordinating timelines, deliverables, and promotional assets.

Assist with creation and distribution of email content, social assets (in partnership with channel owners), web updates, and promotional materials.

Participate in the development of campaign plans, messaging, and content needs.

Gather and organize campaign performance metrics for reporting and optimization.

Brand & Creative Coordination

Support brand consistency across digital and print materials ensuring correct usage of brand guidelines.

Route creative assets for review, collect feedback, and ensure timely revisions with designers and agency partners.

Maintain brand and event marketing asset libraries, ensuring accuracy and version control.

Support production of collateral, signage, graphics, and digital assets for WEF events and brand initiatives.

Digital & Content Support

Help update and maintain content on WEF website and microsites ensuring current and accurate content in collaboration with Senior Manager and IT & Digital Engagement team.

Assist with drafting or editing short-form content for emails, announcements, newsletters, and/or social posts.

Coordinate across teams to ensure event promotional assets are delivered on schedule.

Project Management & Team Support

Maintain project trackers, calendars, and timelines to ensure transparent communication and deadlines across the team.

Help coordinate vendor and agency activities, including scheduling, feedback consolidation, asset delivery, etc.

Support other Marcomm leaders as capacity allows (e.g., Communications, Marketing Strategy, Content). Provide administrative and logistical assistance before, during, and after events.

Requirements

2-4 years of experience in marketing, communications, events, or a related field (internships included).

HS Diploma or BS (preferred).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms is a plus (WordPress, AI, email platforms, CMS, etc.).

Experience supporting events, campaigns, or creative production is a plus.

Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

Commitment to WEF’s mission and member-focused values.

Ability to travel approximately 20 - 25% of the year to attend WEF events and industry conferences.
