Position Overview The Grant Writer is a full‑time position within UNITE‑LA’s development team and reports to the Director of Development. This position will strengthen and build the department’s grant and report writing activities in support of its annual $7M budget. The ideal candidate enjoys technical writing, facilitating discussions around proposal development and theory of change, is highly organized and deadline‑driven, flexible and will demonstrate a strong commitment to education and workforce transformation.

Primary Responsibilities
Write high‑quality concept papers, letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports
for current and prospective funders including federal, state, and local government entities and private and corporate foundations.
Create compelling, persuasive, well‑structured grant narratives
using effective storytelling, relevant data, and superior prose—while effectively tying UNITE‑LA’s needs to funder priorities.
Maintain and update a calendar
of deadlines and deliverables
Schedule and attend funder meetings
to facilitate cultivate and stewardship of existing and new donors
Conduct prospect research
to identify and qualify new grant prospects
Coordinate access to online portals
for financial and narrative reporting
Monitor strategic partnership opportunities
and assist with related communications and cultivation
Supports staff and the Senior Director of Accounting to
develop grant budgets .

Grant writing:
Experience in securing grant funding from a variety of sources including federal, state, and local government entities and private and corporate foundations.
Self‑Motivated:
Ability to work well and on‑task independently.
Multi‑project management:
Exceptional organization skills and experience managing processes and tasks for several simultaneous projects on time and within budget.
Attention to detail:
Produces thorough and accurate work when accomplishing a task.
Collaboration:
Works effectively with a wide variety of people and can adapt to different ways of working to achieve desired outcomes.
Written and verbal communication:
Articulates thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively for the appropriate audiences.
Quality Control Analysis:
Thoroughly and efficiently edits and revises documents written by staff members.
Budget Development:
Experience developing program and project budgets for grant requests.

Compensation and Position Details This is a full‑time, exempt position. The starting salary range for this position is $72,000 - $80,000; the full salary range for this position is $72,000 - $89,250.
