Grade 48; $71,925.00 - $93,375.00 (subject to internal and external factors)
Overview The Multimedia Specialist leads the creation and production of visual content supporting Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine programs, research, and community. This role is 70% photography, 30% videography; work appears across websites, publications, and digital channels.
Responsibilities
Capture high-quality photography for editorial storytelling
Lead photography for major publications, including a twice-yearly magazine
Produce and edit video content to support storytelling and institutional initiatives
Manage projects from planning through final production, including editing and post-production
Maintain equipment and oversee lighting and audio setup as needed
Qualifications The ideal candidate is an inquisitive, self‑directed visual storyteller who is comfortable taking initiative and working in a variety of settings. A background in photojournalism or multimedia journalism is strongly preferred, especially experience in editorial or newsroom environments.
Requirements include creativity, flexibility, and strong instincts behind the camera. The person should be comfortable working independently, thinking on their feet, and capturing moments as they unfold.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, multimedia journalism, or a related field
At least 5 years of experience in photography and video production
Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with portrait and editorial photography
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom) and video editing tools such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut
Experience working with lighting and audio equipmentFamiliarity with WordPress; basic HTML knowledge is a plus
