Job Description
The Communications Specialist will support the CPIC program in executing strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and business operations priorities. This role requires a strong background in information technology, business analysis, communications, and SharePoint, with the ability to translate business and technical needs into clear, effective communication products and collaboration solutions.
The ideal candidate is a business analyst with strong communication skills who can work across technical and non-technical teams to gather requirements, improve information-sharing, manage SharePoint content, and produce polished communications and documentation.
What You Will Do
Develop and execute communication and engagement strategies that support CPIC priorities.
Create communication products tailored to different audiences, demonstrating the impact of CPIC activities on agency and public health mission priorities.
Partner with program leads, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
Translate technical, operational, and business information into clear communications products, briefing materials, SOPs, job aids, presentations, and user guidance.
Evaluate communication channels and recommend effective approaches for stakeholder outreach and engagement.
Develop templates, standards, and supporting materials to improve consistency across communications and documentation.
Utilize SharePoint to create, organize, and manage communication and collaboration content.
Support business process analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement of communication and knowledge-sharing practices.
Apply UX principles to improve content usability and user engagement.
Use program and project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) to manage deliverables and support timely execution.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements What We Will Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, business analysis, program support, or related work.
Experience working in IT-focused environments and supporting both business and technical stakeholders.
Proficiency with SharePoint, including content management, page creation, document libraries, and collaboration support.
Experience with business analysis, including requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and process documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce polished business and technical documents for a variety of audiences.
Familiarity with UX principles and program/project management methodologies.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Nice to Have
Experience supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Experience in federal health IT, public health, or other federal consulting environments.
Experience developing SOPs, governance documents, executive briefings, job aids, and process flows.
Familiarity with SharePoint governance, information architecture, and content lifecycle management.
Experience supporting change management, training communications, or user adoption efforts.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
Clearance Level
Ability to obtain a Position of Public Trust.
U.S. Resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
