The Editorial Publishing team at PitchBook collaborates with multiple stakeholders, primarily research and data analysts, to produce high‑quality publications on private financial markets. Our goal is to seamlessly deliver top‑tier research through innovative visual storytelling and precise editing. This team, consisting of graphic designers and editors, prioritizes excellence, ensuring accuracy and cohesiveness across all products.
The Senior Publishing Editor plays a leading role in producing high‑quality digital publications covering private financial markets and emerging technologies. Ensuring the highest editorial standards across all research content, they oversee workflows and refine best practices for copy and developmental editing. They collaborate with stakeholders across the Editorial department to enhance content quality, streamline operations, and enforce style standard. As a mentor, they guide junior editors, oversee training, and support ongoing editorial development. The Senior Editor also contributes to high‑profile, complex reports and other projects as needed.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Develop best practices and approaches for copy and developmental editing phases
Help manage workflows and perform copy edits to important PitchBook content in collaboration with other editorial team leads and project managers
Prioritize collaboration with a specific analyst team on improving writing, in conjunction with analyst team leads
Own oversight for team support documents as needed
Collaborate with designers on cross‑team initiatives
Perform copy and developmental edits on various PitchBook content types according to best practices
Assist in new editor training and onboarding processes and ongoing editor support as needed
Collaborate with advertising operations specialist to review sponsor‑submitted content
Generate ideas for improving and unifying writing styles
Enforce publication standards per PitchBook’s style guides
Collaborate with Lead, Principal, and Managing Editors to form, improve, and oversee editing processes
Review online content for PitchBook News & Analysis
Set individual goals on a quarterly basis that align with team, department, and company goals
Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years of previous editing experience
Demonstrated track record of editing a variety of publications in relevant or related genres
Demonstrated ability in both copy and developmental editing
Excellent writing and editing skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suite plus relevant publishing tools
Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, or other AI tools preferred but not required
Ability to pick up new systems and software easily
Ability to manage overlapping deadlines and/or experiences in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to assist in developing long‑term strategies for team development and process improvements
Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Compensation
Annual base salary: $85,000 - $100,000
Target annual bonus percentage: 10%
