Job Summary

A Prospect Research Analyst works collaboratively as one of the many data-driven team members in the University of Utah Office of Advancement, a unit dedicated to serving main campus, University of Utah Health, and numerous affiliated organizations and institutions. Our mission is to generate engagement and philanthropic support to advance the university’s priorities in key areas for students, faculty, patients, and researchers.

Primary Function

Champion the values of Collaboration, Belonging, Empowerment, and Integrity, which are essential to growing our donor pipeline;

Encourage donor centric and One U behavior across the University advancement community;

Enhance constituent and organization information tracking within University Advancement prospect management system (Salesforce);

Partner closely with prospect management to optimize portfolios and support fundraiser prospect qualification goals;

Synthesize data sets into storytelling for actionable insights;

And ensure continuity and quality customer service between campus areas, University of Utah Health and University Advancement

Responsibilities Working alongside the Associate Director of Prospect Alerts, the Prospect Research Analyst will be tasked with supporting the prospect identification (discovery) of new high potential individual, foundation, or corporate donor prospects utilizing print, online media, and online vendor tools and screenings.

Additional responsibilities will include:

Evaluating wealth indicators and assessing affinity to distill information that will help inform action from University Advancement Gift Officers

Update relevant stakeholders regarding important and relevant prospect updates including noteworthy role changes, wealth events, or awards

Maintaining the Salesforce CRM to ensure accurate and timely updates to prospect information

Working collaboratively with University Advancement Gift Officers to stay aware of evolving priorities and build quality prospect pools

Ongoing, the analyst will help support the implementation and management of the prospect discovery referral system.

Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in a related field such as advancement (fundraising), library science, marketing, journalism, business intelligence, or technical writing.

Preferences The ideal candidate will have:

Experience in prospect research, prospect management, and/or prospect analytics; Experience performing in-depth research, particularly with online databases and aggregators such as Lexis-Nexis, iWave, ResearchPoint, Foundation Directory, and Foundation Search, and SEC filings

Demonstrated experience with data management systems

Excellent reading, writing, and editing skills and an ability to analyze, synthesize, and organize complex information

Ability to socialize and collaborate with Advancement staff and leadership

Fluency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience using Salesforce or other relationship management data systems

Sense of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning
