A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy with inpatient experience at a behavioral health facility in Indianapolis, IN. This contract position spans from March 30, 2026, to June 30, 2026, or until a permanent placement is made. The role offers a chance to oversee pharmacy operations in a setting focused on behavioral health, making critical contributions to patient care, medication management and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify and dispense medications, including controlled substances
- Manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinet systems and order entry via HCS (training available if needed)
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from Joint Commission, CMS, and the state board of pharmacy
- Handle staffing and pharmacy workflow without technician support
- Provide on-call coverage during weekdays with potential weekend on-call duties
Qualifications And Desired Experience
- Licensed Indiana pharmacist in good standing, with an active license
- Proven inpatient pharmacy leadership experience
- Familiarity with behavioral health pharmacy operations preferred
- Competence or willingness to learn HCS order entry and PYXIS automation systems
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards and compliance processes
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM plus on-call coverage as needed
Additional Information
- Training will be provided onsite alongside the departing Director of Pharmacy and remotely with Assistant Directors and other system Directors if necessary
- Business casual or scrubs dress code
- Local candidates preferred, but travel expenses will be considered
- No pharmacy technician support available; leadership and multitasking skills are essential
- This is a contract role with opportunity to impact a critical service area during a Joint Commission survey window
