Job Title
Director, Business Development
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the business to refine market and target strategy, ensuring pursuit resources, approach and activities align with business “buy-box” and delivery capabilities.
- Establish and execute strategies to pursue, develop, negotiate, and secure new partner programs.
- Maintain policy, controls and sign‑off requirements for all pursuit stages; lead process management and documentation required by the business.
- Identify and develop mutually beneficial relationships with senior leadership and other Citigroup businesses to support new partner programs.
- Integrate Citigroup product offerings into robust financial solutions packages for new business and merger/acquisition prospects.
- Execute strategies to manage internal and external processes and cross‑functional constituents through business case development, negotiations and deal management.
- Work with business teams to identify and develop strategic and tactical initiatives that provide a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Manage prospecting activities for assigned targets and pipeline management including account planning, research/segmentation and networking.
- Develop internal and external documents to support successful negotiations.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
- 11+ years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in new business development; experience in marketing and product development preferred.
- Proven sales, finance and customer relationship management skills.
- Experience in P&L management.
- Track record of leading large complex cross‑functional teams through the business development process.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective team player capable of leading and partnering with finance, risk, marketing, operations.
- Strong senior level network across Citi lines of business.
- Existing relationships with prospective partners and industry advisors.Fluency in structuring financial offers and negotiating complex multi‑year agreements.
- Strategic thinking skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s/University degree; Master’s degree preferred and managerial experience.
