Business Strategy & Execution Director

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. The Business Strategy and Execution Director is responsible for strategic planning and customer insight work in partnership, as part of the business unit and the Product Delivery Center of Excellence which is nested within Carelon’s Product and Customer Success organization. This person will work across Carelon businesses to improve the success of key initiatives related to the organization’s product strategy. Prior engagements include new product development, capability migration or expansion, and operating model design.

How you will make an impact

  • Understands all aspects of the business and partners with executive leadership to define strategy and successful criteria for the future.
  • Identifies and proposes opportunities to improve initiative’s results based on continuous monitoring and needs assessments.
  • Translates strategy into defined tactics, programs/projects priorities, and timelines and ensures alignment and attainment of enterprises strategic plans to turn strategy into reality.
  • Documents strategic priorities such as external environment and reports on customer insight research initiatives.
  • Builds and leverages relationships to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems.
  • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on continuous needs assessment.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of line of business planning and project activities.
  • Supports the internal operations of the Product Delivery Center of Excellence by following defined operating model processes, creating/updating standard templates and artifacts, supporting other directors in the execution of their initiatives, etc.
  • Will support senior leadership with establishing strong up‑front program design, transparent success criteria, clear guiding principles, and strong governance/escalation structures.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience including prior leadership experience and 3 years of strategic planning; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences

  • Strong program management skills and a track record of working through ambiguity in a complex, multi‑stakeholder corporate environment is preferred.
  • Prior strategy or management consulting experience at a well‑known, top‑tier consulting firm is preferred.
  • Experience translating complex, technical information into presentation‑friendly formats, including graphical displays, to a wide variety of internal and external executive audiences is strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare domain experience on the payor or provider side preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting complex, high‑profile initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Program/project set‑up, advisory, governance, and management experience is preferred.
  • Developing and delivering Executive‑level communications, as all internal clients are sVP+ Leaders is preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Salary Range

The salary* range for this specific position is $158,608 to $237,912.
