The Role

The Operational Director serves as IPI’s senior administrative and business leader, responsible for ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient operation of all non-clinical aspects of the Institute. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Director and reporting to the IPI Board of Directors, the Operational Director provides strategic and hands-on oversight across finance, administration, human resources, IT systems, legal compliance, and organizational infrastructure. The Operational Director ensures that IPI’s programs have the business infrastructure to support optimal operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day administrative and operational functions of IPI.
  • Supervise the IPI Administrator(s) and coordinate the work of the contracted administrative team.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, monitor fiscal performance with the IPI Treasurer, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and nonprofit regulations.
  • Develop and streamline policies and procedures relating to administration, human resources, IT security and finance.
  • Ensure compliance with American Psychological Association requirements in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
  • Ensure adherence with the U.S. Treasury Department (Office of Foreign Assets Control) and other regulatory bodies.
  • Establish and maintain personnel policies, contracts, and performance systems promoting a healthy, respectful, and equitable workplace.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on contracts, institutional policies, and risk management.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, digital learning platforms, cybersecurity, and data systems.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and the Board to operationalize strategic initiatives and institutional goals.
  • Collaborate and provide support to the Clinical Director on strategic planning, board governance, innovations, communications, corporate culture and professional growth.
  • Oversee the e-book monetization project ( develop funding strategies, and establish and maintain partnerships to implement fund development initiatives.
  • Provide the Board with accurate, timely reporting, documentation and proposals.
  • Support marketing strategy and communications in coordination with designated teams and consultants.
  • Respond effectively to operational and organizational challenges with foresight and professionalism.
  • Participate in and lead operational committees.
  • Coordinate Weekends with the Clinical Director, IPI members, and faculty. Specific responsibilities are planning logistics such as determining the site and food service, coordinating hotel teams, working with the audiovisual team for hybrid meetings.

Qualifications

  1. MBA preferred or equivalent experience in business, nonprofit management, or related field.
  2. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in business operations, finance, or executive leadership—preferably within nonprofit, academic, or professional association environments.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in fiscal management, budgeting, HR systems, and project oversight.
  4. Strong technology literacy, including familiarity with accounting, Microsoft Office applications, and digital collaboration tools (Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Google).
  5. Experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
  6. Experience working with leadership teams.
  7. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Commitment to ethical practice, transparency, and the mission and values of IPI.
  9. Strong command of the English language, including oral, written, and comprehension skills.
  10. Employment is contingent upon proof of authorization to work in the United States

Compensation and Application Process

This is a full-time position, requiring an average of 30–35 hours per week. The role offers a competitive salary of $75,000 USD annually, along with the benefits package below:

  • Health, dental and vision insurance benefits eligible after 30 days of full-time work.
  • Paid holiday days per annum: New Year’s Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, Christmas Day (and the preceding day if Christmas falls on a Tuesday or following day if Christmas falls on a Thursday)

Location

This position can be performed entirely remotely, except for attendance at one to two annual conferences.
