Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing middle-market private credit manager with a focus on sponsor-backed cash flow lending.
Growth is driving the need for additional senior talent within the workout function.
The firm has a collaborative, low-bureaucracy culture and has deliberately maintained a lean, experienced team where professionals are given real ownership and autonomy over their work.
The Role
This is a newly created Vice President position within the firm’s Workout / Special Situations team, reporting to the team head (Managing Director).
This is not a support role. Each member of the workout team independently owns and leads their own portfolio of restructuring and workout situations. You will be the point person on your deals — leading bank group calls, driving restructuring negotiations, and managing the full workout process from identification through resolution.
The MD provides strategic oversight, coaching, and guidance, but you will be the one on the call leading the discussion with counterparties and sponsors. For candidates used to operating in larger teams where the MD runs every deal, this represents a significant step up in responsibility and exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an independent portfolio of workout and restructuring situations across the firm’s middle-market credit book
- Lead bank group calls and negotiations as the primary point of contact on your deals
- Drive restructuring discussions and negotiate directly with private equity sponsors
- Develop and execute recovery strategies to maximise outcomes on distressed positions
- Collaborate with the broader investment and portfolio management teams on credit monitoring and early identification of at-risk names
- Navigate complex multi-stakeholder dynamics while preserving the firm’s valued sponsor relationships
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Demonstrable workout and/or restructuring experience in a credit-focused environment
- Background in cash flow lending within a sponsor-backed / private credit context
- Proven track record of leading bank groups and negotiating with private equity sponsors
- Ability to operate autonomously and manage a portfolio of situations with limited hand-holding
- Strong commercial judgement and an ability to balance recovery maximisation with relationship preservation

- Private credit workout professionals at VP level seeking greater deal ownership and a platform with genuine advancement potential as the firm continues to scale.
- Bank restructuring / workout professionals (VP or recently promoted Director) looking to transition to the buy side and escape the regulatory and administrative burden of a large banking institution. The firm’s most recent workout hire came from this background and has been a standout performer.
