Overview

The EVP, Head of Credit will design and execute the organization’s credit risk management strategy, with a specialized focus on Point-of-Sale lending. This role oversees credit policy development, implementation, and portfolio performance monitoring, ensuring a disciplined balance between risk and growth.

As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of Credit will lead the Risk Management function and collaborate closely with executive leadership and capital partners to drive strategic initiatives in a dynamic and complex market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting & Credit Strategy
  • Define credit risk appetite and ensure alignment with bank partners and capital providers.
  • Develop and refine underwriting policies, approval thresholds, and scoring models.
  • Oversee the development and management of Company's internal Loan Origination System (LOS).
  • Partner with Commercial Risk to manage fraud across the platform.
  • Monitor portfolio KPIs, including delinquency, loss curves, vintage performance, risk migration, and exposure mix.
  • Drive the development of real-time credit risk reporting tools and dashboards for proactive decision-making.
  • Chair the Risk Committee and oversee enterprise-wide risk monitoring.
  • Provide analytical support to Capital Markets, Pricing, and Business Development teams.
  • Credit Operations
  • Collaborate with collections and servicing teams to optimize recovery and minimize charge-offs and defaults.
  • Oversee charge-off and post-default recovery strategies.
  • Manage risk-related vendors, including servicing tools, telephony, skip-trace, and credit bureaus.
  • Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a team of credit risk professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular audits of credit policies and portfolio performance to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present portfolio analytics and risk insights to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrate ownership mindset—innovative, resourceful, and strategic.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in credit risk management, underwriting, and portfolio analytics.
  • Proven leadership in managing credit strategy within consumer lending or Point-of-Sale financing environments.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Deep understanding of credit risk frameworks, scoring models, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with credit analytics tools, reporting dashboards, and Loan Origination Systems (LOS).
  • Proven track record in leveraging AI and advanced analytics to develop innovative credit solutions, including automated underwriting, predictive risk modeling, and real-time decisioning tools.
