Overview

The HT Group is currently partnering with a growing law firm in Houston in the search for a qualified Director of Finance to oversee all aspects of its accounting and financial operations. The firm supports large-scale infrastructure and development projects across Texas and has expanded significantly in recent years, with multiple office locations statewide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting and finance functions, including accounts payable and general accounting.
  • Manage and forecast monthly cash flow and firmwide budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on long-term business and financial planning.
  • Manage relationships with external partners including banks, tax advisors, and insurance providers.
  • Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to executive leadership.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance financial accuracy, efficiency, and reporting.
  • Partner with HR on payroll, compensation, and related matters.
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis for profitability, growth, and key business metrics.
  • Present finance-related topics and performance updates to leadership committees.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required; Master’s degree or CPA highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, ideally within a professional services, legal, or partnership environment.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with financial modeling, dashboards, and management reporting tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong ERP and payroll systems (ADP, Paycom, etc) experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data effectively.
  • High emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Technologically savvy, adaptable, and forward-thinking.
  • Ability to thrive in a growing and evolving organization.
