Position Overview
The Senior Vice President, Stop Loss Underwriting at Everlong Captive, leads the Underwriting team, evaluates, prices, and manages risk associated with stop loss insurance policies, which protect self-insured employers from catastrophic claims. The goal is to ensure the insurer assumes appropriate risks for adequate premiums.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains underwriting guidelines for the program
- Compiles data reflecting the program's yearly loss ratios with medical trend factored in against current offerings at different excess reinsurance levels
- Conduct in-depth analysis of applications, financial documents, and other relevant information to make informed decisions
- Performing risk assessments on potential clients to minimize financial loss
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business
- Stay informed of industry trends, regulations, and emerging risks within the stop-loss and employee benefits market
- Support strategic partnerships with AI vendors in the health insurance and reinsurance sectors
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in medical stop loss underwriting
- Experience working with manuals
- The ability to interpret and analyze large datasets, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Familiarity with artificial analytics tools, software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- A thorough understanding of medical insurance terminology, concepts, and underwriting principles, as well as regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- The ability to adjust to evolving situations and implement necessary changes
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment and use a computer for extended periods.
Working Conditions
- Office environment with standard working hours; occasional travel may be required. Relocation expenses will be paid where necessary, as this is an in-office position at our HQ in Ponte Vedra, FL.
