Summary
Alila Napa Valley resort is excited about adding a Director of Finance who supports a financial and inventory culture embracing efficient presentation and creative oversight. Financial responsibilities include oversight of the P&L for restaurant and bar outlets, catering, rooms, spa, and ownership reporting. As a member of the Resort’s Executive Leadership Committee, the Director of Finance serves a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate Leadership at Hyatt Hotels and oversight of the entire business’s P&L.

Position reports to the resort General Manager.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $145,000, based on luxury resort and branded hotel experience level in finance.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for short‑ and long‑term planning and the management of the accounting function.
- Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Executive Committee.
- Manage and lead on‑site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis for the hotel, including financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management.
- Assist in nurturing the important relationship with the owners by supervising and coordinating owner reporting, providing custom reports, and attending meetings.
- Manage SOX compliance.
- Complete the year‑end audit process; review and approve reconciliations, audit work papers, coordinate external auditor visits, and reconcile audit numbers to property numbers.
- Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements; investigate, review, and analyze variance explanations with department managers, and take initiative to troubleshoot cost controls and revenue enhancement.
- Aid in the preparation and final review of the annual business plans.
- Supervise the Information Technology function and maintain a sound understanding of hotel operational and back‑office systems as well as Microsoft Office products.
- Supervise the receiving and accounts payable functions.
- Understand the forecasting system; review monthly and quarterly property financial forecasts, ensuring they are attainable and aligned with all business areas.
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- 4+ years of Director of Finance experience required in hotel accounting (typically with Hyatt).
- Previous hotel pre‑opening experience preferred.
- Service‑oriented style with professional presentation skills.
- Hospitality or Accounting degree preferred.
- High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective communication, and ability to improve the bottom line.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
- Maintain communication with Corporate Staff.
