Summary

The Director, Pharmacy Networks is a strategic leader responsible for the design, performance, and optimization of the organization’s pharmacy network. This role oversees network configuration, pharmacy channel strategy, and operational alignment with delegated Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) partners to ensure members have access to high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy services.

This role also contributes to clinical and formulary strategy, including clinical program development and formulary optimization, ensuring alignment between network design, utilization management, and overall cost and quality goals.

This position reports to the Curative PBM Senior Director and plays a key role in shaping Curative’s pharmacy strategy and member experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of the organization’s pharmacy network strategy, including retail, specialty, mail, and in-house pharmacy channels.
  • Negotiate, execute, and maintain direct contracts with pharmacies, managing reimbursement terms and fostering strong pharmacy partner relationships.
  • Oversee Curative’s pharmacy network configuration and operations to ensure accurate implementation of network participation, reimbursement structures, and member access requirements.
  • Monitor pharmacy network performance and identify opportunities to optimize pharmacy channels, reimbursement models, and overall cost of care.
  • Collaborate with PBM partners to ensure network adequacy, regulatory compliance, and operational alignment.
  • Analyze pharmacy network data to evaluate network economics, utilization trends, and cost drivers.
  • Serve as the primary lead for pharmacy network initiatives, coordinating cross-functional efforts across operations, sales, compliance, and leadership teams.
  • Provide oversight of delegated PBM functions related to pharmacy network management and benefit configuration.
  • Contribute to formulary strategy and clinical pharmacy programs to optimize drug utilization and cost effectiveness.
  • Support the development of clinical criteria, prior authorization policies, and utilization management programs.
  • Utilize drug utilization and pharmacoeconomic analysis to support formulary and clinical program decisions.
  • Support pharmacy benefit initiatives and benefit design changes, including implementation and cross-functional communication.
  • Contribute to organizational leadership initiatives and support of the PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program.

Preferred Experience

  • Preferred: PharmD or BSPharm with active U.S. pharmacist license
  • 7+ years of managed care, PBM, or health plan clinical pharmacy experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in pharmacy network strategy, pharmacy contracting, and team/project leadership experience
  • Experience negotiating and managing pharmacy reimbursement contracts and pharmacy partner relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy benefit design, reimbursement methodologies, and network access standards
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
