Job Summary

This is a student volunteer experience position. Volunteer experience participants receive monthly stipend payments.

This position requires collaboration with the KDUP team to curate and manage the station's music library, ensuring it aligns with university standards and audience preferences. Responsibilities include acquiring new music, selecting music for rotation, and managing the station's music archives.

Core Duties
  • Collaborate with KDUP team members in setting goals and objectives for the radio station
  • Responsible for acquiring new music from local and national music promoters
  • Collaborate with Assistant Music Directors in choosing, screening, and cataloging music
  • Respond to DJ and listener requests for specific music genres/tracks
  • Responsible for making final decisions for what music will be in rotation and what music will be archived.
  • Ensures all music in rotation meets university standards regarding explicit lyrics
  • Collaborate with Program Director to acquire DJs playlists and submit station output to college music journal charts and other regulatory agencies
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with KDUP staff to strive for cohesive efforts
  • Attends KDUP trainings, meetings and events

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA to apply
  • Required: Attending weekly staff meetings
  • Required: Attending at least 3 volunteer meetings per semester
  • Required: Hold 2 office hours each week
  • Required: All staff are expected to attend and help with set up and tear down for all KDUP events
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred: High attention to detail and working within an assigned budget
  • Preferred: Effective, timely, and professional communication to students, faculty/staff, and external vendors
  • Preferred: Prior experience with music and/or active radio stations, or an interest in learning
Physical Requirements
  • Preferred: Ability to lift 25-50 pounds and push heavy equipment on wheeled cart
