Director of Business Development
InspireNInnovate Community Solutions, WorkFromHome, IL, United States
InspireNInnovate Community Solutions is a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Role Description
We're building something real in Chicagoland. We need leaders who are ready to help govern it.
What started as a grassroots effort has expanded into active programming across youth entrepreneurship (Kidpreneur Labs), community violence intervention, and health equity and wellness. We are at a critical stage of growth and we need a Governing Board that can help us scale with integrity, accountability, and community trust.
This is not a ceremonial role. We need people who will show up, ask hard questions, review financials, help open doors, and co-own the organization's future alongside our leadership team.
What You'll Do
As a Governing Board Member, you will share legal and fiduciary responsibility for the organization. That includes:
- Reviewing and approving budgets and major financial decisions
- Ensuring legal, ethical, and compliance standards are met
- Contributing to strategic planning and organizational direction
- Supporting fundraising through your network, introductions, and events
- Serving on at least one committee (Finance, Programs, Fundraising/Events, or Governance)
- Making a personally meaningful annual gift (flexible based on your capacity)
Who We're Looking For
- Public health, social work, mental health, or community health
- Youth development, education, or after-school programming
- Community violence intervention, justice reform, or reentry support
- Finance, accounting, or legal (nonprofit, contracts, or compliance)
- Data, evaluation, research, or policy
- Communications, digital marketing, branding, or storytelling
- Lived experience with gun violence, housing instability, or health inequities
Time Commitment
- Board meetings: Bi-monthly or quarterly, 60 to 90 minutes each, virtual or hybrid
- Committee work: Approximately 2 to 4 hours per month
- Key events: Support as your schedule allows
- Term length: 2 to 3 years, renewable
What You Can Expect From Us
Clear meeting materials in advance, real conversations (not rubber-stamping), a culture of accountability and care, and a leadership team that will respect your time and actually use your expertise.
Our Commitment to Equity
We strongly encourage applications from people who are Black, Brown, LGBTQ+, disability-identified, system-impacted, and/or from the communities we serve. Your presence at this table matters.
