Overview
The Aquatics Director is responsible for ensuring a safe, high-quality aquatic experience for all swimmers at the Speer YMCA branch. This position oversees the hiring, training, certification, and ongoing development of aquatic staff. The Aquatics Director also leads the development, expansion, and growth of aquatic programs while supporting membership and participation goals.
The Outdoor Aquatics Center Includes
- 8-lane, 25-yard lap pool
- Warm-water teaching pool
- Splash pad
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of two years of related experience preferred (Aquatics Coordinator, Supervisor, or similar leadership role)
- Current trainer-level certifications in Lifeguarding, Swim Instruction, CPR-Pro, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen Administration required
- Additional YMCA aquatic certifications preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
- Ability to operate standard office, computer, and aquatic equipment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods and maintain awareness of swimmer safety
