Program Director – Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)
The Program Director is responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering high‑quality educational services for students enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. This role ensures academic excellence, regulatory compliance, and effective student and faculty support.
Core Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Delivery
- Develop and maintain the core Diagnostic Medical Sonography curriculum across the institution.
- Communicate and monitor the consistent delivery of program curriculum .
- Prepare course plans, instructional materials, and learning activities .
- Deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction as required.
- Identify professional trends including best practices, industry changes, and emerging technologies to guide curriculum updates.
Student Support & Academic Monitoring
- Monitor student attendance, academic progress, and performance .
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Assess student learning outcomes and support remediation plans when necessary .
- Record grades and submit required academic reports in accordance with institutional policies.
Program Administration & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with JRCDMS accreditation standards and reporting requirements .
- Collaborate with the University DMS Program Chair and Associate Vice Chancellor of Programmatic Accreditation regarding accreditation updates and submissions.
- Maintain a comprehensive Master Plan of Education .
- Implement ongoing program self‑assessment and evaluation processes .
- Maintain and manage DMS laboratory equipment and instructional resources .
Faculty Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate program faculty and staff .
- Conduct monthly departmental meetings to assess program effectiveness and improvement strategies.
- Participate in University faculty meetings and annual faculty convocation .
- Foster faculty engagement in curriculum development and instructional improvement .
Clinical Education & Industry Engagement
- Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators and clinical site partners to ensure high‑quality clinical education.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with clinical training sites .
- Facilitate bi‑annual Advisory Board meetings .
- Evaluate the effectiveness of clinical training experiences .
Resource & Budget Management
- Participate in program budget planning for operational equipment, instructional resources, and faculty professional development.
- Work with faculty to prepare equipment and resource requests .
- Collaborate with the campus librarian to maintain current learning materials and professional resources.
Education, Experience, and Training
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of full‑time experience as a registered sonographer
- Clinical experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Documented continuing education in areas including:
- Curriculum design
- Instructional methodologies
- Program administration
- Educational evaluation
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Supervision and instruction
- Student evaluation and guidance
- Educational theories and teaching techniques
- Familiarity with JRCDMS Standards and accreditation processes preferred
Required Certifications and Credentials
Candidates must maintain active credentials in good standing in one or more of the following:
- RDMS – Abdomen
- RDMS – Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- RVT – Registered Vascular Technologist
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
