The National PERT Consortium™ (PERT)is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to significantly improving the care of patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) through multidisciplinary collaboration, education, research, and advocacy.

PERT is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)to join its executive leadership team. The CSO will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, driving long-term growth, strengthening partnerships, expanding national and global reach, and elevating PERT’s visibility as the leading authority in pulmonary embolism care.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a strategic thinker who thrives in mission-driven healthcare organizations and is motivated to expand innovation and excellence in PE care.

Position Summary

The Chief Strategy Officer will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive 3–5 year strategic plan designed to expand PERT’s clinical, research, and educational impact. The CSO will oversee strategic initiatives—including the national and global expansion of PRISM—while ensuring operational excellence across the organization.

Working collaboratively with leadership, clinical experts, industry partners, and hospital systems, the CSO will identify new growth opportunities, revenue models, and partnerships that advance PERT’s mission and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • Partner with the CEO and Board to develop and implement a 3–5 year strategic plan.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, diversification of revenue streams, and measurable impact.
  • Establish key performance metrics, benchmarks, and accountability frameworks.
  • Assess emerging trends in PE care, healthcare delivery, and value-based models to position PERT at the forefront.
  • Lead all aspects of national and global rollout of the PRISM program.
  • Collaborate with hospitals, healthcare providers, and industry supporters to ensure successful adoption.
  • Oversee ongoing communication with participating sites.
  • Organize educational initiatives, learning collaboratives, and practitioner convenings.
  • Ensure consistent program evaluation and refinement based on performance data.

Research & Thought Leadership

  • Identify strategic opportunities to leverage PERT’s research database.
  • Promote research dissemination to elevate PERT’s standing as a leader in PE science and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with PERT leadership to amplify expertise through publications, presentations, media, and partnerships.
  • Build visibility for PERT clinicians and researchers as national and global thought leaders.

Organizational & Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Consortium.
  • Manage and mentor staff within a remote team environment.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and programmatic alignment with strategic goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MHA, or related) strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, biomedical, nonprofit, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing multi-year strategic plans.
  • Experience working with hospital systems, academic medicine, or healthcare industry partners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in remote environments.
  • Experience scaling programs nationally and/or globally preferred.
  • Familiarity with clinical registries, research databases, or healthcare data strategy a plus.
